Details
Cardinale Summer Crisp Lettuce is a heritage European batavian variety that was reintroduced by Frank Morton and has taken the market by storm for its attractive wine-red thick crunchy leaves and resemblance to a butterhead-romaine cross. Gorgeous ruffled leaves loosely fold over into a crisp green center similar to a romaine at full maturity. Cardinale is also a very popular baby-leaf variety for its tender crisp texture and alluring color. Slow to bolt, heat tolerant and resistant to bottom rot, it is an excellent field crop for the hot summer months. Sweet juicy flavor, heft and excellent shelf life make Cardinale an easy additional to the fresh market growers "must grow" list. 35 days for baby-leaf / 75 days for full heads. Packet: approx 250 seeds.
