Eupatorium - Joe Pye Weed

Eupatorium, also known as Joe Pye Weed, is a prolific bloomer throughout summer. This perennial flowering shrub is often used as a border planting as it exceeds 6' feet tall and fills out into a bush nearly as wide. Strong, sturdy, deep mauve stems offshoot exceptional clusters of sweetly fragrant disk shaped blooms. Each bloom is comprised of thousands of tiny flowers of the same shade accented by lush green whorls of leaves, which creates a dynamic color contrast for focal interest. Joe Pye weed is an eager grower and should be planted with caution in landscape situations as it is well known to self sow rapidly. Eupatorium is one of the best butterfly attractants and bees love them too! Joe Pye Weed prefers moist soil conditions in a sunny location for optimum growth.
