Parris Island Cos Lettuce is a long lived heirloom favorite for its reputation as one of the best quality romaine varieties. Notably crisp, sweet and juicy, upright structured heads average 10" inches and feature uniformly folded ruffled elongated dark green leaves with a crisp white center rib. Excellent resistance to tip burn, mosaic virus and slow to bolt, Parris Island is a dependable production crop. Introduced in 1952 and named after an island off the coast of South Carolina, this long lived garden favorite can be harvested at baby-leaf stage or grown out for mature heads. 30 days for baby-leaf / 60 days for full heads.
