Phalaris canariensis, commonly known as Canary Grass, is a warm season, annual ornamental grass. Producing unique green flower cones on tall, thin, 36" inch stems, this variety is well loved by floral creatives seeking texturally interesting ingredients for bouquets and arrangements. The darling flower cones can be used either fresh or dried. When planted in garden landscapes, Canary Grass is quite striking. Mass groupings add architectural interest and movement. Plants form narrowing blade-type leaves that cascade at the tops. Well suited for all growing zones, this variety is drought tolerant and will self seed freely so it is best to cut all the flower heads in the fall before they open to set seed to avoid colonization in undesired areas. Birds and small mammals will use the clumps for nesting and burrowing over winter. Packet: 25 seeds.
