Phlox Summer-Long Light Blue, commonly known as Drummond Phlox, Pride-of-Texas or Texas Pride Flower is a delightful garden border planting that produces showy, sky blue-violet, star shaped 1" to 1.5" inch flowers with contrasting dark blue centers. This genetically compact variety is an optimal choice for nursery growers who produce pot and pack programs because of its uniform growth habit and earliness in the season. This well loved, showy cottage garden favorite has an intoxicating, fragrant, sweet-spicy aroma that wafts in the heat of a summer breeze making it ideal for container patio plantings, hanging baskets and window sill boxes. Plants grow 6" to 10" inches and although they have short stems, using Summer-Long Light Blue as a cut flower in small vase arrangements and nosegays remains popular. The species name of this plant is named for Thomas Drummond, (ca. 1790-1835), naturalist, born in Scotland, around 1790. For over 150 years drummondi Phlox has been gracing gardens around the world. Packet: 50 seeds.
