Rudbeckia hirta Denver Daisy was bred and widely distributed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the city of Denver in 2008 and has become a well-loved and cheerful garden favorite since then!
Hardy 24" to 30" inch bushy plants produce huge 6" inch golden-orange daisy-type flowers. A dark center cone is surrounded by a ring of dark petals, which almost makes it look like a sunflower from a distance. Quite an unusual feature for this daisy! Plant in any area in which you want a splash of rich golden color-garden beds, borders or lining a pathway. Large window boxes and containers are also welcome homes for these bright blooms that pollinators love. The size of the blooms is sure to bring cheer to any garden placement.
Strong stems make this an excellent cutting garden staple. Spent blooms left in place create winter interest in the garden and provide a feast for small birds during the winter months. Any seeds the birds don’t get will freely self-sow when they overwinter and shed. Packet: 30 seeds.
