Scabiosa Black Knight is a treasured heirloom variety that heralds back to the early 1600's in England when it was formerly known as Blackamoor Beauty and Mournful Widow, reflecting on its moody almost black burgundy color. Commonly known as Pincushion Flower for its resemblance to a sewing pincushion, honey scented flowers are disk shaped and average 2" inches wide on 24" inch tall single stems. Introduced in America in the 1760's this black beauty is a popular variety used in Gothic and Mourning gardens. A favorite among pollinators, deer resistant and hardy to zone 4, Black Knight will freely self-sow seeds if left to overwinter. Packet: 50 seeds.
