Sea Holly Blue Hobbit, scientific name Eryngium planum Dwarf, is a specialty mini version of its taller cousin, Glitter. The dwarf Hobbit, at 12” tall, is ideal for garden beds, container plantings and window boxes where architectural interest and outstanding vivid blue color are desired in a more compact stature. Prostrate rosettes are supported by silver-blue stems. The flower heads are comprised of hundreds of metallic-blue micro florets.
Plants produce an abundance of flower heads putting on quite the color show from late spring through early fall. This lovely hardy perennial will freely self-sow if the blooms are left to expire at the end of the season and are then subject to a cold season of dormancy.
This is also an excellent variety for cut flower use on small scale projects such as boutonnieres, corsages or mini arrangements due to the shorter stem length and smaller blooms. Packet: 25 seeds.
