Cipollini onions and commonly known as gourmet Italian onions - Cipollini means "little onions" in Italian. These mild flavored onions with high residual sugar content are most popularly used roasted or caramelized in a saute of olive oil or butter. Cipollini onions have a distinctive appearance with a petite 3" inch bulb and oval compressed bulb shape with tall upright hollow onion shoot stalks.
